A few years back I got a bit obsessed to buying board games. I have quite the collection now. It's a bit like video games. These thing were once thought of a kid's things. Now though they are mainly adult things. What kids play board games anymore? My partner and I joined a local board game group. So these 2 examples, yeah they're fun for adults, but they're also a great source for socializing and meeting new people. You only have to look at the massive rise of online multiplayer video games and the renaissance in modern board games over the past decade or so. So many things I enjoyed playing with as a kid, I still do now.
Plus now, when I struggle mentally a lot of the time, my partner almost has to drag me to the board game group, when I'm not really feeling up to going. I do, and I always have fun (especially if I win) and I come home feeling better than when I left. I loved lego as a kid, but as an adult I can buy it myself and I have way more now that I ever did as a kid! 🙂 Same as 3d Printing a model of the robot from Lost in Space or the spaceships from Battlestar Galactica... useless items to sit on a shelf but they make me happy, building and looking at them.

@MJG017 A board game group sounds wonderful - a great way to socialise with people in a relaxed fun environment! I wonder if I can find something like that near me.
